BEFORE & AFTER
These photos show work in progress. We ripped out all the scrub and weeds by hand, reducing the site to bare soil, save for orchids and non-invasive plants. Grass seed was then sown across the cemetery.
The site as we found it. The only way to do a proper survey of the burying ground was by completely clearing it.
Some of the more striking examples of parts of the cemetery before we started work (left) and today (right). We regularly stumbled across hidden monuments as the scrub was removed.
The cemetery seen today. The vandalised walls and smashed graves are the only reminder of the site's neglected past. Walking around the burying ground today it is hard to remember how dark and gloomy it once was.
